Comparison of Wood pellet and Bio-SRF
Wood pellet
- Wood pellet : Small cylindrical solid biofuel (Notice of the National Institute of Forest Science, No. 2013-5) that compresses and produces wood that is not contaminated by harmful substances.
- "Wood not contaminated by harmful substances" means wood treated besides with chemicals such as preservatives, paints, etc. and other wood whose history is unclear from furniture and buildings (National Institute of Forest Science No. 2013-5).
-"In order to distribute wood pellets imported or manufactured pursuant to Article 20 of the Act on the Sustainable Use of Wood, it shall be inspected and marked by the Director of the Forest Service.
- A person who intends to manufacture and distribute wood pellets shall register pursuant to Article 24 of the "Act on the Sustainable Use of Wood".
Bio-SRF (Biomass-Solid Refuse Fuel)
- "Bio -SRF" : Refers to the manufacture of solid fuel from biomass waste recognized and announced by the Minister of Environment that it can be used as waste, agricultural waste, waste wood, vegetable residues, super-mainstream waste and other energy (appendix Table 1 of the Enforcement Rules of the Act on the Promotion of Saving and Recycling of Resources).
- In order to import or manufacture and distribute resources, the Act on the Promotion of Saving and Recycling of Resources shall be reported pursuant to Article 25-4 of the Act on Promotion of Recycling of Resources, and shall be inspected and marked by the quality test announced by the Minister of Environment pursuant to Articles 25-5 and 25.6.
- A person who intends to use solid fuel products shall file a report of use pursuant to Article 25-7 of the Act on the Promotion of Saving and Recycling of Resources.
The difference between wood pellet and bio-SRF
- Wood pellet: Uncontaminated wood is used.
If waste wood is used in the manufacture of pellet, it is bio-SRF.
- Wood pellet: at the Korea Forestry Promotion Agency. Bio-SRF should be tested for quality at the Waste Resources Energy Center.
- Compared to wood pellets, bio-SRF has lower quality standards.
- Unlike wood pellets, which are molded solid fuels, bio-SRF has two forms: name and non-forming.
- Wang Geu pellet. EFB Felllet. PKS etc. : Bio-SRF.
- Wooden pellet mixed with EFB, PKS, etc. : Bio-SRF.
- Pellet made of a pestle (top rice, bamboo, etc.) : Wood pellet [Ministry of Environment Official Document Resource Recycling Division 2490 (2013.10.17)
- Wood pellet: Do not require a report or permission related to the Ministry of Environment.
