Joint purchase and volume exchange of bio heavy oil with central power and southern power generation
Contributing to the stable supply of clean energy in Jeju Island
Korea Midland Power Co. (President Park Hyung-koo) and Korea Southern Power Co. (President Shin Jung-sik) announced on the 8th that they signed an agreement to jointly purchase and exchange bio heavy oil at the cooperative headquarters of power generation companies in Seoul to contribute to stabilizing energy supply and demand.
The agreement included a joint bid for and purchase of bio-medium oil used by the Jeju Development Headquarters of Jungbu Power Co. and Namjeju Power Headquarters of Nambu Power Co. and a plan to resolve supply and demand instability in case of an emergency through exchange of supplies between the parties to the agreement.
Bio-heavy oil has an 84 percent fine dust reduction effect compared to B and C oil. Since last year, the two companies have taken the lead in implementing clean Jeju through fuel conversion at existing heavy oil power plants.
"We will continue to make various efforts to ensure stable supply of fuel and clean energy in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province," said a representative for both companies.
